Osteoporosis: A Self Evaluation
by Dr. William Rice DC, DACBN, CCN, FACCN

Osteoporosis, a condition of accelerated bone loss, is a major health problem. One out of four Americans suffer from it. It's responsible for over one million bone fractures each year. While it doesn't only affect women, more women die from complications of these fractures annually than from cancer of the cervix and breast.

Osteoporosis is difficult to diagnose in its early stages. Bone loss does not appear on regular x-rays until you have lost more than 25% of the bone. Often, it is not detected until the first fracture. The good news is that the suffering it often causes is preventable, if caught early enough. And when prevention is begun early enough, osteoporosis can be prevented or reversed.
